The Solent Overlord Military Club is delighted to announce a donation of £10,000 to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, following the resounding success of the Overlord Show held in May 2024 at Denmead. This contribution is part of the club’s ongoing commitment to supporting military charities and honouring those who serve.
The three-day Overlord Show, organized by the Solent Overlord Military Club, raised a total of over £13,000 for military and local causes. As the premier military show in the South, Overlord boasts a rich history, having started around 1975. It features a large living history section and an impressive array of over 350 military vehicles, ranging from WWII jeeps to tanks.
Throughout the event, attendees were thrilled by daily mock battles in the main arena, where reenactors brought historical battle scenes to life with the sights and sounds of gunfire and explosions. The show not only provided entertainment but also served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by armed forces personnel.
The Overlord show at Denmead, is always held on the spring (late may) bank holiday weekend and promises to be more spectacular in 2025 with the 80th anniversary of VE day, the end of WW2 in Europe.
